Card fees hide in the statement
They come out once a month, so every day looks better than it was. NineTenths charges them to each day’s own card sales.
For independent station owners · 1 to 10 sites
See what you actually keep per gallon after card fees, freight and the cost of the fuel that is really in your tank. On your phone every morning, built from your own numbers.
No software to install. No cost. Your report in about a week.
The problem
Street price minus rack price looks healthy. Then the card processor, the freight bill and the fuel you bought at yesterday’s price take their share, and the real number only shows up after the month is over.
Example station · illustrative numbers, not a customer result
27.1¢ − 7.9¢ − 0.8¢ = 18.4¢ per gallon. See exactly how each number is worked out.
Card fees can take close to a third of your gross margin, and they only show up on next month’s statement.
Industry context: NACS, the convenience store trade association, puts credit card fees at 8.4¢ per gallon (2023 data) and estimates that retail expenses take a typical 35¢ gross fuel margin down to about 13¢ net. Source: NACS, “Who Makes Money Selling Gas?”
Where it goes
None of them are your fault. They are just hard to see from the back office.
They come out once a month, so every day looks better than it was. NineTenths charges them to each day’s own card sales.
When wholesale moves, the fuel in your tank was bought at yesterday’s price. You need to know which one you are really selling.
Checking every delivery ticket (the bill of lading) against the tank gauge by hand rarely happens. A few gallons short on each load adds up.
What you get
Built from your own sales, tank readings, fuel invoices and card statements. No spreadsheets, and no new equipment.
Your data stays yours
These are commitments, not marketing. They stay in place whoever owns or invests in NineTenths.
Your margin is built from your sales, invoices, tank readings and card statements. Nothing else goes in.
We never combine your sales, cost or price data with any other station’s, and we never sell it.
NineTenths shows you the numbers. Every pricing decision is yours, and nothing is ever changed at your pumps or signs.
Why this matters: some pricing tools combine data from competing stations, and regulators and courts are looking hard at that practice. NineTenths is built the other way. Read our privacy and file-handling policy.
Try it at your station
See your real margin on your own numbers before you commit to anything. Nothing to install, and you can stop at any point.
Report exports, PDFs or phone photos are all fine.
In about a week, walked through with you by phone or in person.
Most owners don’t. Send a short note with your station name and town, and we’ll set up your free price check.

Who’s behind NineTenths
We build tools for independent fuel retailers, with engineering experience in petroleum and the energy industry behind them.
We’re early. We’re running free price checks with a handful of owners to get the numbers right before we charge anyone. We would rather earn your trust with your own numbers than with a sales pitch.
Questions
No. For the price check you send reports you already have. The daily app reads from the POS and tank gauge systems our first stations use, so tell us what you run.
Ninety days of daily fuel sales by grade from your POS, your fuel invoices or delivery tickets, and your card processing statements for the same months. Tank gauge reports and inside sales help too, but they are optional.
The price check is free. We haven’t set pricing for the daily app yet. It will be a monthly fee per site, published here before anyone signs up, and there is no obligation after the price check.
Only you and NineTenths. Your files are kept confidential, stored separately for each station, and never shared with another station, a supplier or a jobber. Read how we handle your files.
No, never. Any pricing help is learned only from your own station’s data, and you approve every change.
We keep them only as long as you are working with us. Ask and we delete them, whether or not you continue.
Most reports subtract the rack price from the street price. NineTenths takes taxes out properly, charges card fees to the day they were earned, adds freight, and costs your fuel at what is actually in the tank, blended delivery by delivery. See the full method.

It can be. Email hello@ninetenths.pro. Dealers keep full control of their own data, and jobbers never see it.
